Why is your brand identity so important?

I come across many small business’ starting out and as much as I am empathetic and understand the set up costs associated with starting a new business cannot understand why people try and design their own brand identity themselves. As a publicist and creative individual I know my strengths and weakness and when it comes to tax time, I employ the services of a professional bookkeeper and accountant to handle this for me. Why on earth then would you as a new business owner try and design your own logo and branding if this is not your strength and expertise? It does not make sense…

When I first started my business, I found the most creative graphic designer I could and paid them to come up with my Magnet logo. Although this seemed like a hefty outlay at the time, I did not hesitate because I understand how important branding and creating a brand is for the future success of your business.

Your comments are most welcome.

See some pics of some of my favourite brands (local and global) that first popped into my head.
