My new obsession: Bowerhaus & Treasure Hunt Tuesday

Talented duo, and great friends of mine, Shentel & Elizabeth Lee have recently caused a stir with the launch of their fabulous jewellery brand Bowerhaus (yes, you should click on the link and have a browse).

10 things I’m loving about Bowerhaus

1. The Yo Set (now in my possession)

2.   Bon Giorno Trio (next on my Bowerhaus wish list)

3.      Hello Hello necklace

4.      They’re sisters and some of the most talented girls I’ve come across

5.      The quality of the pearls & stones and the amount of time & effort put into sourcing them

6.      All the jewellery is strung together and knotted by hand

7.      The elegant packaging is a beautiful finishing touch that encompasses the duo’s passion for their brand

8.      The name “Bowerhaus” actually has meaning behind it. The name was inspired by the Australian Bowerbird, known for their unique courtship behaviour of collecting objects to attract the opposite sex

9.      The imperfect pearls make for a perfect necklace

10. TREASURE HUNT TUESDAY!!

“Treasure Hunt Tuesday” is an online treasure hunt created by Bowerhaus where every Tuesday an item is listed for free at some point of the day on the site. Find it, click purchase and it’s yours for FREE. Follow them on their Facebook page for helpful hints. Make sure you're signed in and registered to make checkout faster. Get hunting!!

Old world charm, playful wit and understated confidence are all the hallmarks of Bowerhaus.

Best email Christmas Card of 2010

Kingsleys

Ok it’s the end of the year, Xmas is around the corner and I always love to sit back and be entertained by the many different virtual Xmas cards I get in my inbox. This however has to be one of my favourites this year, thanks to Kingsley’s steak and crabhouse - so simple yet effective!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas dinner with whoever is your favourite squeeze at the time, enjoy a glass of your favourite French, eat and be merry and try not to fight with the family, after all its Xmas! I shall enjoy my time up north in Bris-vegas with my family and then off to Byron to join what seems like half of Sydney on the beach ;-)

Love and virtual hugs, Kim xoxo

Can't afford a 911? ... get a Porsche design product at Sydney's NEW Porsche Design store!

Porsche_blog_2

Set amongst the CBD skyscrapers, Sydney’s A-list including Nikki Phillips, Justin Melvey and Celebrity Stylist, Donny Gallella, congregated at the Ivy Penthouse to celebrate the opening of the Porsche Design store on Tuesday 7th December.  I was fortunate to be amongst the guests invited to welcome the latest addition to the Porsche Design Group, which is situated on King Street and features a range of luxurious Porsche Designs products.

Luxury was clearly the aim of the game with two Porsche Panamera’s shuttling attendees to the Ivy entrance. Here we were able to quench our summer thirst with a range of cocktails and champagne available from the open bar. With the balcony Jacuzzi bubbling away (although empty!)  guests were served canapés and browsed the various Porsche Design products on display.

The extravagance continued with the gift bag which included a Jo Malone beauty packs, Vittoria Coffee and a Porsche Designs 2GB USB just to name a few of the goodies!

Check out the store at 147 King St, Sydney or online at http://www.porsche.com/australia/aboutporsche/porschephilosophy/principalperformance/design/

"The Sangria Club" at Lotforty

Lotforty_postcard-2

As the newest addition to the Magnet team I had the pleasure of visiting our new client Lotforty (www.lotforty.com) , a hidden gem of a tapas restaurant on Kings Lane in Darlinghurst, to experience their newest promotion: “The Sangria Club” available every Wednesday and Thursday night throughout Summer.

Tim, the manager, greeted us with a cheerful smile and jumped straight into helping us make a major life-changing decision… red sangria or white sangria? Of course, we settled for a jug of each. We sampled so many plates, it was actually hard to keep track of what we ate. Among my favourites were the “fried pumpkin ricotta balls finished with cream of spinach” and the “shallow fried baby squid tossed with lemon sea salt & chilli flakes”. But my absolute favourite and must-try was the “BBQ king prawns finished with an orange, fennel and mint salad”.. although, I could be a little biased, I’m known to be a sucker for seafood. For all the meat-lovers out there, I had journalists from Nine To Five sitting at the table next to me who highly recommended the “sliced seared beef fillets with teriyaki sauce & roasted sesame seeds”.

After our delicious meal, we took a quick tour of the restaurant. From the outside, the restaurant appears to be a lot smaller than it is, and the cosy, personal feeling of the upstairs area makes it perfect for private functions. We couldn’t resist another cheeky jug of white sangria before we left – I can’t be expected to do the PR if I don’t thoroughly know the product! One of the BEST white sangrias I’ve ever tasted by the way..

It may have been my first time there, but definitely will not be my last. I’ll be coming back to hit up the cocktails very soon!

“The Sangria Club” has been created to look after the locals by offering some mid-week deals where jugs of Sangria (sponsored by Square One Organic Vodka) are available at $10 or you can choose any 2 tapas dishes on the menu and a jug of Sangria for $30. Available every Wednesday and Thursday evening.

Until next time..

A walk in Woollahra....

Ok so I am obsessed with Peonies and since they are only in season this time of year, you will have to endure my ravings I am also obsessed with where to find the best ones, I always recommend 2 florists, one in my hood - Susan Avery on Jersey Road, Woollahra – www.susanavery.com and Garlands Florist in Surry Hills has the most unusual flowers types I have ever come across, plus I do love Ferdinando – www.garlands.net.au but yesterday I was walking past Thomas Dux in Paddington’s Five Ways and found 3 closed peonies for $15 (check out my photos below)!! I was very impressed, especially since I had a hard week of nothing but parking tickets, thank you Woollahra council for changing the street signs around the Magnet office to 1 hour, I am sure I am not the only person in Woollahra upset about this.

Ok, so what are my favourite haunts of Woollahra? Lets begin at the Magnet office on Queen Street and walk down towards Moncur Street, after spending time and also knowing the family behind the Woollahra hotel www.woollahrahotel.com.au I regularly enjoy the upstairs bar and terrace plus the bottle shop has some fantastic French reds, another fave indulgence of mine, other favourite haunts in Woollahra include the Buzy Bakehouse for delicious pizza and cakes, they also make a mean Chai Latte. If you have some coin saved up, try Becker Minty for unusual and rare gifts www.beckerminty.com then there is always Bills for a delicious breakfast or lunch in the same courtyard or Zigollini’s across the road is a nice place to kick back and read the paper’s. If you tired or stressed out, the best remedy I can recommend is a massage with Nikki at Maya Medispa, www.mayamedispa.com.au Back to Queen street, walk down Queen past all the stores and around the corner to Holdsworth street, where I love to visit the Donna Hay store for gifts www.donnahay.com.au/store-location

That’s it for me today, enjoy Woollahra, the high street of Sydney!
